Happy New Year!! I can’t believe it’s 2020 already; time is just flying by and I’m so excited for what this year will bring. In celebration of the turning of the decade, I thought I’d do this tag I saw over at My Tiny Obsessions.
This tag was created by Rae of Bookmark Chronicles.
1. Best book/series you’ve read in 2019.

The best book I read this year was hands down There Will Come A Darkness by Katy Rose Pool. This book absolutely blew me away, and the opportunity of attending the launch party back in September is one of my most memorable moments of 2019 🙂
2. Authors that you’ve recently found and would like to read more of in the new year.
Katy Rose Pool (There Will Come A Darkness), Sandhya Menon (When Dimple Met Rishi), and Adam Silvera (They Both Die At the End).
3. Most anticipated book turned movie?

P.S. I Still Love You, the second installment in Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before series! I’ve watched the first movie at least five times, and I canNOT wait until this one drops in early February, especially after experiencing the magnificent cinematography and en pointe music selection in the trailer.
4. Name a character that you wouldn’t mind sharing a kiss with at midnight (if there is one)

Is this even a question? Obviously, Will Herondale!! If you’re new and want to know why, here is my love letter to him, and here is my WH-inspired playlist. He’s just the best and I love him, and I wouldn’t mind sharing a Victorian novel by the fireplace in the Institute Library instead of that kiss.
5. What’s on your TBR for 2020? (Top 5 will suffice if its an extremely long list!)
The five books I absolutely HAVE to read next year:
- Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
- Emma by Jane Austen
- There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon
- Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell
- As The Shadow Rises by Katy Rose Pool
6. How many books do you hope to read in 2020?
I’m hoping to read at least twenty books in 2020! It seems strange to say when my goal used to be over a hundred books just a couple years ago, but reading in college is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be and I’m trying my best
7. Will you participate in the Goodreads Reading Challenge (or any others)?
Probably not? I’ve never done it before, and I usually just keep track of the books I’m reading on my own. I also find that participating in reading challenges sometimes makes me feel stressed/pressured about reading, and I want reading to remain my avenue of relaxation/de-stressing.
8. Any New Year’s Resolutions? (bookish and otherwise)
I’m aiming to branch out a bit this year and read more non-YA books, which I haven’t done a whole lot of. My primary resolution for this year, though, is to make healthier decisions for both my mental and physical health, like exercising regularly, keeping a journal, doing more of the things I love and enjoy instead of feeling pressured to do things I wouldn’t do on my own (although sometimes those things can be great, depending on what they are!), learning how to let go of people and things that are negative influences in my life, and living in the moment instead of thinking about the past and the future.
If you want to do this tag, I tag you! If you mention me in your tag, I’ll be sure to take a look at it ❤ In addition, here are some specific people I’d love to see do this tag:
- Sofii @ A Book. A Thought
- Evelyn @ Evelyn Reads
- Jess @ The Book of Jess
- Alys @ Alys in Bookland
- Aoife @ Pretty Purple Polka Dots
Once again, I wish you all a very happy New Year, and I hope 2020 brings you all the joy and happiness in the world.
That’s all for now–thanks so much as always for reading, and I’ll see you again soon! 🙂
