Hi! I’m back with another book tag…it’s another A-Z one, but this time it’s actually about books, and not me! Okay, it’s technically still about me, but this time fully in the context of books 😉 I was inspired by Jillian The Bookish Butterfly’s blog– check out her post here!
A – Author you’ve read the most books from: Approximately a tie between Rick Riordan (5 from Percy Jackson, 5 from Heroes of Olympus, 3 from The Kane Chronicles, 1 of the Magnus Chase books, and 1 of The Trials of Apollo ones–for a grand total of 15) and Cassandra Clare (5 Mortal Instruments books, 3 from the Infernal Devices, 3 from The Dark Artifices, and parts of 3 additional Shadowhunter books: The Bane Chronicles, Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy, and The Red Scrolls of Magic–for a grand total of 14)
B – Best sequel ever: AHHH I have no idea!! There are some pretty good sequels out there, but for the sake of not taking the cop-out Harry Potter route, some of my other favorites are Prodigy and Champion by Marie Lu (no second book syndrome!), Clockwork Prince and Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare (both were even better than the first in my opinion!), and The Lost Hero and The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan (although I think the series went downhill from there).
C – Currently reading: Sadie by Courtney Summers.
D – Drink of choice while reading: I’m a big fan of qualiTEA afternoons of sitting and reading with some jasmine or vanilla flavored goodness. Everyone who knows me in person probably just either rolled their eyes or groaned, to which I say…I think I make teariffic puns, so please stop with the negativitea 😦
E – E-Reader or Physical books: If I had the option to read a physical book or an e-book, I would pick the physical book, but I also don’t have a lot of time to go to the library and not a lot of money to buy books, so I end up mostly reading e-books 
F – Fictional character you would have dated in High School: Hmm…I want to say Will Herondale, but it would probably have been James Carstairs. I imagine Jem would have a quiet and nerdy high school student, which is what would have initially attracted me. We would have become friends through a group project or something, and then I would’ve fallen for his charming kindness and dependable personality.
G – Glad you gave this book a chance: Something in Between by Melissa de la Cruz. I went in not expecting ANYTHING expect potentially a cheesy romance, but it completely changed my life. For more on why, see my YA Contemporary Recommendations post here.
H – Hidden gem book: Wonder by R.J. Palacio! This book was pretty well publicized given its movie adaptation, but I still think it’s a hidden gem because not enough people in my life have read it, and despite its target audience, I think everyone can and should learn something from it.
I – Important moment in your reading life: This is super cliché, but definitely the first time I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I was in third grade, and I had just finished my book during silent reading time (can’t remember which one) when I thought I would impress my teacher (who I thought hated me, I wasn’t usually like that, I promise!) by reading a big-kid book like Harry Potter (even though I was completely terrified after one time I had walked in during a basilisk scene of the Chamber of Secrets movie). I clearly remember reading the first sentence and thinking, “wow, this is so good.” It was so magical, and although I can’t really fathom how the first sentence affected me strongly in that moment, it sparked my first fandom obsession and will always hold a special place in my heart.
J – Just finished reading… : A book for my history class I just had a test on today… I haven’t finished reading anything else since getting to school 😦
K – Kinds of books you won’t read: Horror novels! They, well…scare me.
L – Longest book you’ve read: I’m not really sure! Maybe Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare at 912 pages?
M – Major book hangover because of… : The Infernal Devices series…I couldn’t get over them so immediately after I finished them I reread them.
N – Number of book cases you own: 3! (a small one in my college dorm room, and 2 at home)
O – One book you’ve read multiple times: Just one? Okay, well, there are lots from series, but the STANDALONE I’ve read the most times is probably The Chaos of Stars by Kiersten White. I’ve read it about four or five times!
P – Preferred place to read: In my room…that way people don’t look at me funny when I’m sitting by myself cracking up or tears start rolling down my face as I’m reading the end of When Dimple Met Rishi or Champion or…you get the point.
Q – Quote that inspires you / gives you the “feels”:
“It was books that made me feel that perhaps I was not completely alone. They could be honest with me, and I with them.”

This is probably representative of why I feel such a strong connection with Will Herondale. This quote reminds me of how I got into reading and why I loved it so much. I didn’t have all that many friends growing up because my family moved around so much, and definitely not any long-lasting friendships. Books were the only friends I could rely on for a lot of my childhood, and even though I feel so lucky for the amazing friends I have in my life now, nothing replaces the feeling of complete acceptance and peace I get when I read.
R – Reading regret: I wish I had read The Infernal Devices series slower the first time around so I could have savored it instead of rushing through it.
S – Series you started, but need to finish: The Ember in the Ashes series! I loved the first two books so much, but I feel a bit disconnected from them now and just can’t bring myself to read the last one!
T – Three of your all-time favorite books: Stand alones: Wonder by R.J. Palacio, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.
U – Unapologetic fangirl for… : Harry Potter. And Percy Jackson. Very basic. I know. Also don’t care.
V – Very excited for this release more than any others: OMG Chain of Gold!!!! I want more Will Herondale!! And this book’s release date keeps on getting pushed back!! It was supposed to be out already, but I guess I have to wait until November 19. But hey! That’s right before Thanksgiving Break, so I guess I know what I’ll be doing then…
W – Worst habit: Starting series, loving them, and then not reading the new books when the come out because I’ve gotten too much distance 😦
X- X Marks the Spot: the 27th book on your shelf: Hmm I’m not at home right now, and there definitely aren’t 27 books on the tiny bookshelf in my college dorm room, but the 7th book on it is Wonder by R.J. Palacio!
Y – Your latest book purchase: On The Come Up by Angie Thomas…I wasn’t planning on buying it because I hadn’t read it yet and I only like to buy books I know I love, but I walked into Half Price and there was a signed copy just sitting there! And I had a feeling it was going to be good based on how much I loved The Hate U Give, so I figured it was worth it 🙂
Z – Zzzz snatcher: Basically any cheesy YA romance? They’re usually so short and entertaining that I can convince myself that it’s not a big deal, but then it’s 2 am and I regret my life decisions.
